Set in a wasteland in an alternate present, SEKI follows a man searching for machinery—hoping to build something that will help him become SEKI.
Presented as a development season, SEKI is the debut solo dance work by Te Whanganui-a-Tara based artist Sefa Tunupopo. This early version of the work offers the first glimpse into ideas that have been slowly unfolding since 2024. SEKI is a love letter to family and a meditation on survival, care, and maintenance. SEKI asks: how do we look after what we’ve made? How do we maintain the things we hold close, our relationships, and ourselves in order to keep going?
