An exhibition by Micheline Robinson
French-Canadian artist Micheline Robinson presents "Ebb & Flow," a collection of large-scale metal artworks that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. The carved flat metal surfaces trick the eye into translucency, luminescence and optical illusions of 3 dimensionality.
In Micheline’s paintings, the atoms and elements that comprise our world are rendered within a playful environment, inviting the viewer to see themselves in the work and asking the viewer to find the beauty within their random existence.
Through the meticulous handpainted layering of inks on carved metal panels, the strategic interplay of light and shadow, and the emergence of organic forms that oscillate between the recognizable and the mysterious, Robinson's artwork does more than occupy space; it transports the observer to another dimension. Here, we are reminded of our tangibility and the beauty inherent within it.
Micheline Robinson earned her BFA from Concordia University in Montreal (where she studied Fine arts and film Animation) in conjunction with Ottawa U (conceptual art). In the last 30 years, her artistic footprint has spanned four continents. She has exhibited in Croatia, France, Malta, South Korea, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, North America, Australia, and New Zealand.
